Hands-on Training Programme on Operation and Testing of Medical Devices
The global medical devices market size was valued at USD 423.8 billion in 2018 and is expected to reach USD 612.7 billion by 2025. Rising geriatric population, economic growth, growing prevalence of chronic conditions, increased access to healthcare facilities, rising healthcare expenditure, growth in surgical procedures, etc. are projected to boost the global medical devices market. With rapid advancement in Indian medical device industry, Indian companies are manufacturing different class of medical devices. The Medical Devices Rules 2017 effective from 01 January 2018, streamlined the rules and regulations concerned with different types of medical devices.
One of the crucial steps in production and launch of medical device in market is testing. There are different testing procedures for different medical devices that can be adopted to test the performance of medical devices. These tests ensure quality of medical devices helping manufacturers obtain approvals to launch quality product in the market. Moreover, end users can ensure the quality of well-calibrated medical devices through these testing procedures. There is a need to create comprehensive awareness in the field of operation, maintenance and testing of medical devices amongst manufacturers, entrepreneurs and equipment operators.
CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) is a national laboratory headquartered in Chandigarh and Regional Centres at Delhi and Chennai working in the field of Instrumentation. CSIR-CSIO, Regional Centre, New Delhi has developed niche expertise in Operation, Maintenance and Testing of medical devices. CSIR-CSIO, New Delhi is focused on conducting training programmes on maintenance, calibration and repair of biomedical, analytical and energy management instrumentation.
The training programme shall be a mix of practical training and lecture series covering instrumentation, operation and testing procedures conducted by CSIR-CSIO, Regional Centre, New Delhi. Programme shall enable enhancement of skills in operation, testing & calibration and knowledge in Indian rules and regulations related to medical devices.
